    Light in the Darkness: The Role of UV Photons in the Circumstellar Envelopes of AGB Stars

     

    Abstract: As well as forming silicates and carbonaceous dust grains, the circumstellar envelopes (CSEs) of AGB stars are host to nearly 100 molecular species.     The galactocentric radial metallicity gradients of GC systems can be used to probe the assembly histories of galaxies but doing so is complicated by: 1.) a GC system is an aggregate population of several (or many) different subpopulations of different origins, and 2.) computing the gradients with respect to projected galactocentric distances can artificially flatten the gradient.     Black hole demography in the era of gravitational-wave astronomy

     

    The era of gravitational-wave astronomy has just begun and the formation channels of binary black holes (BBHs) are one of its most debated questions.     Stellar ages are critical to understanding the formation history of the Milky Way and the evolution of planetary systems,
