Parking permits available:
All cars parked in Observatory lots at 60 Garden Street during business hours (8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.) must display a parking permit. The Harvard College Observatory Administrative Office , located in B-115 (x5-9059), issues daily, weekday parking permits which are issued on a first come, first served basis.

The cost for parking permits are as follows:

  • 8 hour permit - $17 (also subject to availability)
  • 4 hour permit - $10 (also subject to availability)
  • 2 hour permit - $6 (also subject to availability)

Long-term parking on the Observatory campus is permitted through an annual membership or via the purchase of daily parking permits (see above). However, due to shortage of parking space and high demand, the waiting period is quite lengthy. Therefore, taking public transportation or walking to work is highly recommended. See the MBTA Website for public transit options, and the public transit section below for more information on purchasing MBTA passes.
